Amber, a mythic stone full of energy, comes to us with inside the sun of millions years ago. When it was shining lymph of big trees amber absorbed sunlight and warmth that it kept in itself forever.

Amber is the first gem in human history.
At the beginning humans were keeping amber with them without knowing its peculiar destiny. They were finding strange pebbles on warm sea’s sands: it’s easy to connect amber to the big astro where life comes from: the sun.
Electricity, this huge source of energy that amber had hidden for centuries, is now known and we are finally able to enjoy it.
Before this huge discovery the ancients were able to perceive this stone like something magic and precious. This magic stone was connected to health, prosperity and life fortitude.
So amber was going to adorn beautiful women or a well-done sculpture, pennants and furniture, to create an aristocratic habitation. Even Hellenist used amber to complete with a unique vivid color touch their exceptional pieces.
During centuries in the Mediterranean Sea’s villages and in the “Magna Graecia” this noble material had perpetuated the bond with men lavishly of joy and emotions.
When we were thinking that in Sicily the Simeto’s river was almost over with its polychrome amber’s coffer, here is, from far away Caribe, coming new amber; wonderful Dominican amber that renews our vision with forgetful wild, opalescent and pleasing colors or with warm, sunny and thoughtlessly colors.
In Santo Domingo valid craftsmen shape necklaces and bracelets with lightful ambers and, sometimes, they embellish those jewels with extraordinary presences like flowers, leaves and small animals, that perfectly preserved, review the light during our days.

Alessio Sorrentino is a sensible artist to a millenary tradition like coral; but even to amber he has been knowing how to direct his passionate interest: he creates sculptures that return to us the Ellade’s smile that it is an immaculate cradle of our civility.
